The final movement toward exile begins with Jehoahaz’s reign. The chronicler briefly describes the last four monarchs. In each case he shows that an exile took place and the temple was desecrated.

Neco deposes Jehoahaz after three months and deports him to Egypt. Judah pays a levy to Egypt from the temple’s wealth.
