A. Adoration of God as Creator (4:1-11)

An apocalypse contains a message sent from heaven to earth. John indicates his reception of communication from heaven through the literary form of a vision. In the vision, John enters heaven and stands before the throne of God. Twenty-four elders surrounding the throne probably symbolize completion representing the twelve tribes of Israel and twelve apostles. God, the One on the throne, is honored by all of creation (4:4, 10). Two songs (4:8, 11) proclaim God as holy and worthy of worship because God is Creator.
