Asa’s initial evaluation is positive. In a religious reform, the king removes the materials of the false cult and commands the nation to obey the Lord. As a political benefit from this reform, Asa enjoys the peace necessary to work on building projects. Asa affirms, in the sentiments of 7:14, that the nation holds the land due to fidelity to the Lord (v.7).
