A. Salutation (vv.1-3)

Paul identifies Timothy as coauthor, as he does in Colossians. Philemon is named as the principal recipient and is warmly commended as “our dear friend and fellow worker.” Also mentioned along with Philemon are Apphia and Archippus, presumably his wife and their son, and “the church that meets in your home.” Archippus may have been the minister (see Col 4:17), but it was a family ministry.
