A. Solomon’s Procession (3:6-11)

For the first time Solomon is identified as the groom or suitor. The king is mentioned in 1:4 and 1:12, but only now does the poet indicate whose person and carriage the delegation of sixty swordsmen protect. The retinue is impressive in its sheer elegance as perfumes, powders, precious metals, and the crown of the king are described.
