A. The Hero Job (1:1-5)

The character of Job is described in universal terms. Four qualities are mentioned. He was blameless (perfect in the sense of completeness), upright (straight), devout (feared God), and moral (shunned evil). Job’s goodness is critical to a proper understanding of the book. His sufferings cannot be attributed to sin.
