B. Benediction (6:23-24)

The closing words of the epistle are typically Pauline. The benediction includes three elements: peace to the brothers, love with faith, and grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love. The word here translated “undying” perhaps literally means uncorrupted or incorruptible and communicates the idea of “immortal.” The generic phrase “to the brothers” may indicate that the letter is for more than one congregation. The proposal that Ro 16 belongs at the end of Ephesians has little support among scholars today, even though Aquila and Priscilla, who are greeted there, had been in Ephesus since the end of the second journey (Ac 18:19).
