B. Capture of the Evil Trinity (19:17-21)

After the glorious announcement of the parousia of Christ, the capture of the evil trinity is almost anticlimactic. Rather than a battle, the Beast and False Prophet are seized. The text withholds from readers the details of this final denouement. When one compares John’s sketch of this event with the Gospels' detailed descriptions of the death of Jesus, one can conclude that Christians should say far more about the saving death of Jesus and his victorious return than about the mechanics of how the enemy finally will be defeated. Preach the truth of victory and leave the details to God.
