It would be a serious mistake to think that Paul castigates the whole of Judaism in this section. Paul had great respect for the Law as such. His purpose is not to ridicule his background, but to show its insufficiency compared to Christ. What were once considered assets are now counted as liabilities compared to Christ (v.7).
