B. Yahweh’s Response: Divine Justice Through the Babylonians (1:5-11)

God lifts Habakkuk’s attention beyond the domestic, internal problems to the international scene. On the horizon, Habakkuk sees the Babylonian army—swift, merciless, and unstoppable. God implies that this new destructive force is his answer to Judah’s sin. The undeniable message was that God had raised this machine of destruction to seize dwelling places not their own (v.6).
