C. A Plea for Unity and Cooperation (4:2-3)

Again the need for unity surfaces. The identities of the persons named here, along with the “loyal yokefellow,” are unknown (see major commentaries). They were no doubt influential persons. Paul stresses the need for mutual cooperation toward reconciliation and unity. Disunity in the church is everyone’s business.

The phrase “book of life” refers to the record of all who experience the blessedness of eternal life through resurrection.
