C. Authorship and Omissions (21:24-25)

Whether or not that is so, this disciple is emphatically identified as the authority behind the gospel (v.24; cf. 15:27; 19:35). We cannot now identify the we who endorsed his testimony as true.

Indirectly 21:25 underscores the Gospel’s message about the greatness of Jesus. The verse is an obvious hyperbole, as Adam Clarke was at pains to point out (664-65, cf. Turner, 415).
