This king, whose name means “The Lord is Judge,” inaugurates judicial reform. Jehoshaphat himself travels about teaching the people to follow God. He appoints judges and teachers, some introduced in 17:7-9, to settle disputes and admonish the citizenry to obey the Lord. Jehoshaphat warns of the consequences of further sin.
