C. Managing Change (1:9-11)

It takes reverential wisdom to manage fundamental changes in life. How easy it is to lose control when stations in life are suddenly reversed! Those suddenly rich can go off the deep end; those suddenly poor can precipitate a sure end to their lives. It is not clear whether James has in mind material changes or spiritual changes due to Christian conversion. Christian faith obliterates class and social distinctions. It takes wisdom to make the adjustment and to understand the Christian perspective of life.
