C. Purpose of the Law (1:8-11)

These actions, contrary to sound/healthy doctrine are identified by the proper use of the law (v.8). This list of fourteen activities ranges from general to specific and from lawbreaking to perjury. V.11 defines sound doctrine as that which is according to the glorious gospel, the good news that was entrusted to Paul. Entrusted continues the idea of the importance of faith (v.4) and further identifies Paul as a lawful and genuine recipient of God’s apostleship.
