C. Teaching About the End (21:5-38)

Jesus predicted the destruction of the temple and the persecution of his followers. Jerusalem, he said, would be trampled on until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled (v.24). This prediction implied an end to gentile occupation of the city. But Jesus' prophecies extended beyond the fate of Jerusalem. He foretold his coming in a cloud and the signs that would precede him. “This generation” (v.32) probably refers to a period in the plan of salvation rather than a literal human generation.
