D. The Second Divine Council Meeting (2:1-6)

The Lord notes that Satan’s initial efforts to discredit Job were without effect. Job still maintains his integrity. Satan counters by suggesting that up to this point he has only begun to harass Job. The person of Job has not yet been touched, only his possessions. If he is permitted to touch his innermost being, the results will be different. Observe again that Satan can do only what he is allowed to do. He cannot kill Job.
