E. Anticipations of Judgment (14:6-13)

Three angels proclaim judgment, the fall of Babylon/Rome, and judgment on the followers of the Beast. V.8 anticipates 17:5 and 18:2. 2Ba 11:1 and 1Pe 5:13 attest that other writers referred to Rome as Babylon in the first century. Rome inherited the infamous name of Babylon because both Babylon and Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the temple.

Amid the chorus of judgment, John affirms faithful saints who persevere.
