The chronicler gives Rehoboam a negative evaluation even though he firmly held the throne. Rehoboam’s lack of internal devotion to the Lord led to acts of disobedience. Despite the fact that he sought the Lord when he was in trouble, this king is an unfit example for future monarchs. There was general unrest during Rehoboam’s reign but a smooth transition to Abijah’s reign.
