g. The conclusion of Asa’s reign (16:11-14)

Despite early devotion and Hanani’s rebuke, Asa’s life ends in anger and illness. He oppresses the people and suffers a serious, undetermined disease of the feet. He refuses to seek divine healing and trusts only in human physicians, just as he had relied on human allies. The chronicler implies that Asa could have been healed if he had trusted the Lord. The extensive and elaborate burial that Asa received seems to indicate an overall favorable view of this king.
