I. Overview

Second Peter urges its readers to a fuller understanding of Christian grace and to a deeper acquaintance with God and the Lord Jesus Christ. The primary concern is the Christian’s growth in grace. Accordingly, the author sets forth an exposition of the resources God gives for the growing Christian, grounding these resources in the sure prophetic Word of God, now fulfilled in Jesus, and calling his readers to reject false teaching in order to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus (3:18).
