Seldom has anyone questioned the Pauline authorship of this epistle. Even though Paul had not visited the Roman church before, he knew many Christians in the capital city (16:3-16). Probably Paul had met them and even had ministered with them in the East during his missionary journeys. They had since moved to Rome.
