IV. Doom Is At Hand (7:1-27)

There is no mistaking the urgency in Ezekiel’s proclamation “The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land” (v.2). This whole chapter shouts the full meaning of the term “the day of the Lord,” first uttered by the prophet Amos almost 170 years before (Am 5:18). It will indeed be a day of darkness and not light (Am 5:20). This chapter presents the death warrant for Israel. Their own standards would condemn them. What does this say about the level of morality and ethics they actually lived? When the Day of the Lord’s wrath does come, God said, then “they will know that I am the Lord (v.27).
