Q. The Mission of the Twelve (9:1-9)

The mission of the twelve disciples, like that of Jesus himself, included both preaching and healing. They traveled with a minimum of possessions, relying on the hospitality of friends. They did not stay where they were unwelcome but left to the judgment of God those who rejected them.

About this time the activities of Jesus caused concern to Herod Antipas, ruler, or tetrarch, of Galilee, who had put John the Baptist to death. Herod finally met Jesus at his trial (23:6-12).
