CLOSET (חֻפָּה֒, H2903, hūppāh, chamber, closet, defense; ταμεῖον, G5421, closet, secret chamber, storehouse), the covering or canopy of Isaiah 4:5, or shelter; the bridegroom’s chamber (Ps 19:5) is the private place of the bride and groom, their first dwelling after their marriage. By contrast it is the bride’s chamber (Joel 2:16). It is the place of importunate, prevailing prayer (taméion) (Matt 6:6) where true spiritual character is displayed. חֻפָּה֒, H2903, designates a chamber of less restricted access than taméion which is further within and of more restricted access.
