ELIOENAI ĕl’ ĭ ō ē nī (אֶלְיﯴעֵינַ֗י, unto the Lord are my eyes). The name of six men in the OT. 1. The son of Neariah and father of Hodaviah and six others (1 Chron 3:23, 24). He was a descendant of David and Solomon, and lived after the exile.

2. A descendant of Simeon (4:36), a chief.

3. The son of Becher, the son of Benjamin (7:8). He was a head of the family of the sons of Becher.

4. One of six sons of Pashhur, of the priestly family that had married foreign wives (Ezra 10:22). He is called Elionas in 1 Esdras 9:22. He may be the same as the trumpeter in Nehemiah 12:41.

5. One of six sons of Zattu of Israel who had a foreign wife (Ezra 10:27).

6. A postexilic priest who had a trumpet at the time of the giving of thanks at the dedication of the wall (Neh 12:41). He may be identified with number 4 above.

This name should not be confused with Eliehoenai (q.v.). KJV fails to distinguish in spelling the two distinctly different names.
