Evi

EVI ē’ vī (אֱוִ֤י, LXX Ευεί, desire). A Midianite king slain by the Israelites.

Evi was one of the five kings of Midian whom the Israelites slew (Num 31:8). This was apparently an act of vengeance. Earlier, the Lord had said to Moses, “Harass the Midianites and smite them; for they have harassed you with their wiles, with which they beguiled you...” (Num 25:16ff.). Evi, along with the four other kings, receives mention in Joshua 13:21. There they are called “princes of Sihon.”
