EZRAHITE ĕz’ rə hīt (אֶזְרָחִֽי; LXX ̓Εζραΐτης, ̓Ισραηλίτης). Formerly understood as a patronymic for the descendants of Zerah (1 Chron 2:6, cf. the list in 1 Kings 4:31), this word is now interpreted by W. F. Albright (Archeology and the Religion of Israel, pp. 127, 210) to mean “aborigine, member of a pre-Israelite family.” The word occurs only in the titles of Psalms 88 and 89 and 1 Kings 4:31 (MT, LXX 5:11).
