JAHZEIAH jä ze’ ə (יַחְזְיָ֥ה, Yahweh sees). One of four men who either supported or opposed Ezra when he ordered Israelites to divorce their foreign wives (Ezra 10:15; KJV Jahhaziah). The KJV has the men supporting Ezra, and this view is supported by the LXX and by 1 Esdras 9:14 (RSV; KJV Ezechias, ASV Ezekias). However, the Heb. words in Ezra 10:15 when found elsewhere in the OT express opposition (cf. 1 Chron 21:1; 2 Chron 20:23; Dan 11:14), and the ASV and the RSV have the men opposing Ezra.
