JARIB jâr’ ĭb (יָרִ֖יב, he contends). 1. A “son” (clan) of Simeon (1 Chron 4:24; called Jachin in Gen 46:10; Exod 6:15; Num 26:12).

2. One of the leading men sent by Ezra to Casiphia to get Levites before the return to Pal. (Ezra 8:16; 1 Esd 8:44, KJV Joribas, ASV Joribus).

3. One of the priests who had married foreign wives and were compelled to give them up (Ezra 10:18; 1 Esd 9:19, KJV, ASV Joribus).

4. KJV for Jehoiarib in 1 Maccabees 14:29.
