JONADAB jō’ nə dăb (יﯴנָדָ֨ב, Yahweh is liberal, or Yahweh is noble, or Jehovah has impelled). JEHONADAB ji hō’ ne dăb (2 Kings 10:15, 23). 1. A son of Shimeah, David’s brother, and the friend of David’s son, Amnon. He devised the plan whereby Amnon seduced his half-sister Tamar (2 Sam 13:3, 5), and it was he who told David that the report was wrong that said Absalom had killed all his sons (vv. 32-36).

2. Son of Rechab, of the Kenite clan; he formulated the anti-agricuturalist rules followed by his descendants, the Rechabites (Jer 35), and encouraged Jehu in the abolition of Baal worship in Samaria (2 Kings 10:15, 23).
