17:1–15 The word “house” lies at the heart of this passage. David saw his own house (“palace”) and desired to build a “house” (a temple) for God. But God declared that He would build a “house” (a dynasty, v. 10) for David. David’s son would build a “house” (a temple, v. 12) for the Lord.
