1 Cor 5:2

5:2 you are arrogant. This verse is the key to Paul’s real concern. The fundamental problem here was not the sin of one individual, but the failure of the Corinthian church to deal with the sin—indeed, their sense of pride in tolerating it (v. 6). Possibly, the Corinthians had developed a theology that could accommodate such immorality. Instead, they had the responsibility of exercising discipline by excommunicating the offender (“removed from among you”).
