1 Cor 6:14

6:14 will also raise us up. This reference to the Resurrection is unexpected here, and probably reflects the connection between inadequate doctrine and deficient life. Being exposed to Greek thought, many of the Corinthians appear to have had contempt for the body, even to the extent of denying the future bodily resurrection (ch. 15; 15:35 note). With such a weak doctrine, some of them may have regarded sexual relationships as inherently sinful because they take place through the body (7:1–5). A different group, influenced by the same false doctrine, apparently took the opposite view: since what one does with the body does not matter, even promiscuous sexual behavior is not wrong.
