14:17 Tirzah. Tirzah was fourteen miles west of the Jordan River, about halfway between Jerusalem and the Sea of Chinneroth (Galilee). It was Jeroboam’s place of residence and later the capital of Israel (15:33) until Omri built the city of Samaria (16:24).
