22:3 Ramoth-gilead. Located about twenty-eight miles east of the Jordan River, near a tributary to the Yarmuk River, Ramoth-gilead became Israel’s possession during the conquest (Deut. 4:43; Josh. 20:8; cf. 1 Kin. 4:13), and Ahab thought it was time to retrieve it from the Syrians (v. 4).
