The somber final chapters of Kings emphasize the divine judgment on Judah (21:10–15; 23:26, 27; 24:3, 4, 20; 25:21), but they also reveal in the last few verses that the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem did not cut off the line of David. There is reason to look to the future with trust in God.
