8:16 Jehoram. Jehoram probably reigned together with his father Jehoshaphat for five years before becoming the sole monarch of Judah (1:17; 1 Kin. 22:42). This verse marks the death of Jehoshaphat and the beginning of (Jehoram’s) Joram’s independent rule (848–841 b.c.).
