21:40 on the steps. Probably the stairs leading from the temple area to the Antonian Fortress (rebuilt by Herod the Great and named after Mark Antony) on the north edge of the temple platform.

Hebrew language. That is, Aramaic, as commonly spoken by Jews in Palestine, although the priests and Levites would also have known Hebrew. Greek was the common language of the Roman and Mediterranean world.
