28:6 they changed their minds. There is some irony in the islanders’ reappraisal of Paul’s character—from murderer destined for death to that of a god. This recalls the events in Lystra, where first the people hailed Paul and Barnabas as gods, and then nearly stoned Paul to death (14:11–20).
