9:26 after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off. Many interpreters understand this to refer to the crucifixion of Christ. According to view (b) above, the “anointed one” of v. 26 is Christ, and the “anointed one” of v. 25 is Cyrus.

Some adherents of the second-advent view (9:24–27 note), however, argue that while the assailants are the armies of Titus, the “prince” himself is the Antichrist.
