28:1–68 After recording the liturgy for the covenant ritual at Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim (ch. 27), Moses calls on the congregation at Moab to obey the commands of God, setting forth God’s promised blessings for obedience and His curses for disobedience. The blessings are briefer and come first. The curses are, in some cases, the exact reverse of the blessings, and they continue with awesome emphasis before climaxing on a note of doom (v. 68).
