25:10 ark. The revelation of the pattern for the earthly sanctuary begins with the plans for the ark of the covenant, the most holy object in the tabernacle. This ornate chest contained the Ten Commandments, the pot of manna, and Aaron’s staff (16:33; 25:16; Num. 17:10; Deut. 10:1–5; Heb. 9:4). The cover of the ark was perhaps viewed as a footstool or throne for the Lord (vv. 18, 22 and notes).
