26:7 Tyre. Shortly after the fall of Jerusalem, Nebuchadnezzar laid siege to Tyre. The part of the city on the mainland fell quickly in 585 b.c., but the island fortress defied the armies of Babylon for thirteen years, until 572 b.c. (29:17, 18).
