Gen 19:37–38

19:37, 38 This genealogical conclusion (vv. 37, 38) begins the story of the bitter animosity of Moab and Ammon against Israel (Num. 23–25; 2 Kin. 3). The Moabites and Ammonites were rejected by God, not because of their questionable lineage, but because they mistreated Israel (Deut. 23:3–6; Neh. 13:1, 2). Ruth, an ancestor of Jesus Christ, was a Moabite (Ruth 4:18–22; Matt. 1:5), but through her faith she was eventually counted in the tribe of Judah.
