2:18–25 The gift of the first bride presents marriage before the Fall, and so provides the foundation for the laws against adultery (Ex. 20:14; Heb. 13:4), a model for marriage, the basis for government in the home and church (1 Cor. 11:3–12; 1 Tim. 2:12, 13), as well as a type of Christ’s relationship to His church (Eph. 5:22–32).
