6:8 Gilead. This was a mountainous region in the northern Transjordan, but the word may refer to the city of Ramoth-gilead.

evildoers. The term is used frequently in the Psalms to indicate the enemies of the righteous and of the Lord.

tracked with blood. This may allude to the fifty men of Gilead involved in the assassination of Pekahiah (2 Kin. 15:25).
