42:7 what is right. Since God has rebuked (and forgiven) Job for things he had said, why does He say here that Job said what was right while the counselors did not? Their words were often formally blameless. The counselors failed since without knowing why Job was suffering, they arrogantly assumed they did, and falsely accused Job of kinds of sins of which he was not guilty. That God accepted Job’s prayer on their behalf indicates His gracious forgiveness of them also.
