11:50, 51 Jesus’ own generation was guilty, for in rejecting Jesus it rejected the prophets who had spoken of Him. Thus, these people shared in the guilt for the deaths of righteous men. Abel was the first person murdered (Gen. 4:8), and Zechariah’s murder may be the last in the Old Testament (2 Chr. 24:21–22; cf. Matt. 23:35 note).
