14:24 my blood. In the original Passover the blood of the lamb protected the Israelites from death (Ex. 12:23, 30). The phrase “blood of the covenant” comes from Ex. 24:8, and recalls that biblical covenants are sealed in blood (Gen. 15:9–21; 17:9–14; Ex. 24:4–8).
